It was an exciting day for students and staff at Oaks of Righteousness School. A school day that was anything but normal. We took a trip to a local farm to help pick and clean up apples, peppers, and watermelon.

The students worked hard, and for the most part seemed to enjoy doing work that was different from their everyday school work. What was different about todays work though was that it was an opportunity to work for a cause... to raise awareness and support for the school and ministry. The farmer we worked for agreed to pay us something for our work. Additionally, we were able to take as many watermelons as we wanted, which we are now in the process of selling in order to raise more money for the school.

The morning started strong with the boys picking peppers and the girls cleaning up apples. Once the peppers had been picked it was onto picking watermelons. It was a good work experience for the students that required quite a bit of physical labor and some organizational skills when it came to picking/sorting the best peppers and watermelons.
As the day went on, students and staff all worked together in the orchard. The longer we worked the more tired we became but the students and staff showed a lot of perseverance and did a great amount of work. A nice pick me up during the day was enjoying some of the freshly picked watermelon. It was delicious!

We are grateful for the opportunity we had today, to work, educate, and raise support for Oaks of Righteousness School. While we may have not made a lot of money, every $ counts, and we know that God will continue to provide everything we need. We are looking forward to the next fundraiser.
