The Countdown is on...

As we feel our days in Mexico slipping away, we've been reflecting on our time here, our favorite memories, the things we love best about Mexico - the things we miss from home. As part of homeschooling, I had our oldest three children each write a poem about Mexico - the things they loved best about our home away from home. Here they are.

Dedicated to each one of dear friends in Mexico - you've made us fall in love with this wonderful place.

12 Things that are Better in Mexico

In Mexico town is close by,

The fruit is so good, it’s not a lie

The tax is included in the price,

And there are fresh tortillas that are really nice.

In Mexico we have a nice big shop,

For doing gymnastics in the bedroom up top.

The restaurants are a short drive,

It’s usually hot, like at least plus 25!!!

The pet store has puppies that are cute,

Tessa got one from there and how it loves to toot!

I like to do gymnastics, it’s true!

And Copper Canyon is really beautiful too!

About Mexico, I have one more thing to share,

At the trampoline park, I always jump there!

But….there’s one thing in Canada I miss,

A nice big house, for gymnastics with my sis!

Mexico has good Takis and pop

and that is why I always want to shop.

The landscape is beautiful and the tacos taste new

and I bet even you would like them too.

The language is elegant the music is too but that’s not the only thing Mexico can do.

The fruit and weather always work together and the fresca here is the best ever.

The spice here is a new kind of heat, that no other country can ever beat!

But one thing I know, between me and you, the green grass galore is better in the place we live - Winkler Manitoba where it's cold and bold.

12 Things That Are better in Mexico

Mangos, Watermelons, peaches and more,

are in Mexico a galore!

How nice it is to have summer weather in winter seasons,

It’s so great for many reasons!

There are even more things that are better in Mexico that I will share,

So maybe you want to listen and take a seat on a chair.

There are some better trees here,

Like amazing fruit trees that have fruit almost as good as root beer!

And if you are in Mexico around meal time,

Try their huge variety of tacos and pay Mexican Pesos, not a dime.

It is so great when you go to the store and see the price of something big or light,

And know the tax is already included in the price, so the price is completely right!!!

One reason that homeschooling here is so great,

Is that by lunch time, I’m usually pretty much done my school

And my school doesn’t go so late!!!

There’s a pet store with puppies that is such a delight and I love to see,

And one little cavatzu puppy, I pick he!!!

I am not done with telling you some things that Mexico has better,

So hopefully you are enjoying this blog newsletter.

I love their fruit stands on the side of the road in so many Mexican towns,

I think it might be a little tricky to find a Mexican town without fruit, maybe even as hard as finding clowns!

Mexico has so many cool sights and views to see,

From mountains, canyons, and lookouts, and more that have been enjoyed by me!

I have also found that the restaurant prices are often better,

Almost like a great sale on a sweater.

I’m almost at 12 things that are better in Mexico, but not quite yet,

And the last two things that I am about to say, maybe should be served on a jet!!

Fresca tastes like a different drink here I declare,

It’s definitely better here than in Canada there!

And 12th on my list, but not the last best thing in Mexico of course,

Are the tortillas, so nice like a horse,

They are so good and yummy,

They’re fresh and not crummy,

And they are so great in your tummy.

I think that there will be things from Mexico that will be missed by me,

That Canada should get, you would probably agree!

And I hope that I get to visit here again some time,

And enjoy a bunch of things including tacos with lime.

I am also looking forward to going back to Canada soon,

Where I have a bigger room!!!!!...

And one thing that is better there,

Is the great grass- in Mexico that kind of grass is definitely much more rare!
