Our home re-homed! - June 6th

Well, it’s been nearly a month since we made the decision to head to Mexico.  I wish I could say a lot has happened since then, and it has, but often it feels as though we don’t have much to show for it – still few answers when people ask us questions.  A lot of my time this last month has been working ahead to get all of our “not Mexico related things” complete, so we can focus on Mexico. Things like wrapping up church responsibilities, my youth commitment, parent advisory commitments and getting everything ready to go to Fairford (we head up a team each year to head to this Aboriginal reserve and run day camps, which will be happening again this year, Lord willing, at the end of July).  I’ve also spent a lot of time preparing home school curriculum for the following year and researching – everything from travel insurance to whether or not MTS will let us suspend our services for the year.  It’s become quickly apparent that life in Canada is not set up to leave for a year! 3 months, yes. 6 months, maybe.  A year??? That’s been a bit of a challenge.

That all being said, today we feel as though we have “something to show” – one big piece of the Mexico puzzle solved.  We are so excited that we have found someone to live in our home!  God couldn’t have provided a more perfect solution to our crazy home renting situation.  Alvin and Bettina, a young couple getting married at the end of August, are planning on staying in our place for the first few months.  We met them for the first time last week and immediately felt so at peace about having them live in our house.  They too count this a blessing as they will be building their own home during this time, and were hoping to avoid committing to a year-long rent contract.  Once they have completed building their house, two young ladies will be living in our place.  Simone Lik, a dear teacher at Hochfeld School that we have come to know and love, and her sister Christine, will be living in our house. In both situations, not only are they willing to take care of the yard and house for us, but they are willing to let us come live there for Christmas, leave our belongings in the house and will be covering the costs of our bills while we are away.   These people that God has brought into our lives stand behind what we are doing and support missions whole heartedly.  That alone means so much to us.

We are truly blown away by God’s goodness and faithfulness in providing an answer to our house dilemma in a way that more than exceeded our requests.
