Rose interviewing Faith - October 24th

Hello. What’s your name?

My name is Faith.

How old are you?

I am six and in grade one.

How did you feel about coming to Mexico before you left home?

I felt kind of happy and sad. I was happy because I could actually go to see Mexico and see what it’s like. I was sad because I would miss my cousins.

Is Mexico what you thought it would be like?

Not really.  I was expecting it to be much hotter when we came – except it was raining.  I also thought that it would not get too windy, even in windy season.  I did not expect to see Butterball, our dog.  The Tarahumara school is a lot smaller than I expected.  I love the trees on our yard – I did not think they would be this pretty.

Are the kids at school how you imagined them to be?

I don’t know…I never really thinked about it…so I don’t know.  Some of the girls at school really like me.

Is there anything in Mexico that is how you expected it to be?

Not really.

What is church like in Mexico?

It’s hard to understand because usually it’s in German and I did not think that the church would have a nice gym to play in with a ball pit, swings and a slide.

How is homeschooling going?

Good…..(laughing, laughing). Math is pretty easy.  The homeschooling is a lot shorter than I thought.

What are your favorite places to go in Mexico?

Canada…(laughing)…no…maybe the trampoline park and restaurants and maybe the pet store.  I also really like to go to Margita’s cabin because there is a big cage of bunnies.

Do you have any new favorite foods in Mexico?

Deesco and quasadillas. Well, quaesadillas aren’t actually a new food but they taste way better in Mexico for some reason.

What’s the hardest part about being in Mexico?

Missing my cousins.

Do you have any new friends in Mexico?

I have a friend named Nya, from gymnastics, and I have a friend named Nikki, and I also have a friend named Aria and also Harrison and Tessa’s bunnies – Chubster and Milly.

What has God taught you since coming to Mexico?

God has taught me what it feels like to not have any friends and how to be a good friend to other people that don’t have friends.
